In ‘Hyperplane’, I explore the reflections scattered across Singapore’s streets - a visual symphony born from the interplay between bustling activity and serene moments.

This series focuses on contrasting foregrounds and backgrounds through reflective street objects. Some, like reflective spheres or mirrors, intentionally merge with the urban landscape, while others - shop windows, rainwater, vehicle mirrors - blend unintentionally.

Inspired by Jan van Eyck’s ‘Arnolfini Portrait’ and Vivian Maier’s self-portraits, I use mirrors and reflective objects as tools to dissect and absorb our contrasting surroundings.

Black and white film strips away color distractions, drawing focus to the stark beauty of these reflections.

These abrupt glimpses of another dimension create a hyperplane, prompting us to wonder:

What lies beyond this 2D portal, a replica of our reality world or something else?
